Hi Everyone,
Joey came home
yesterday from the latest 5 night chemo treatment. It was
relatively uneventful (which is good). They placed the new
broviac tube on Tuesday morning which went fine and then they
began the chemo the same day. Unfortunately he wasn't able to
start the treatments until about 9pm on Tuesday so he primarily
received the chemo each night while he was sleeping. It seemed
to go ok but I think he didn't get as much sleep as usual which
made him a little more tired (and irritable).
He had a
transfusion Saturday night (his hemoglobin was low) while he was
sleeping as well so we were able to get home fairly early
(around 2pm) on Sunday. Joe was very happy to make it home
Sunday as he was getting bored at the hospital.
Thanks to the
many visitors Joe had this week including Nana and Pop-Pop,
Uncle Bob and Laura, Uncle Jim, Aunt Kathy, Cousins Eddie and
Betsy, Cousin Bill and his friends from the Canisius High School
Football team. Joe always has more visitors than any of the
other patients there and I think it really helps him get through
this a little easier (his parents too).
And for those of
you keeping score, if things stay on track Joe will be done with
the chemo 12 weeks from yesterday. 4 more treatments to go (2
one night and 2 five night). Joe was scheduled for 47 total days
of treatment and we've made it through 35 so far.
